blessings and prayers

Traveling throughout Thailand and Cambodia renewed my perception of what it means to worship. You do not need to do grand things at the hand of God, or whatever deity you may believe in, but rather show up in a state of openness. Give an offering, a piece of yourself, to exchange with the Divine. They are listening to your calls. I really admire the devotion all around, the altars on every corner filled with fresh marigolds, lit incense, water and food. I admire their consistency to show up and surrender to a power beyond themselves. I witnessed in awe. And each time I sat in front of the Buddha to speak my own prayers, I was overcome with an immense spiritual energy that lives in the sanctified places of worship. Every prayer ever spoken breathes on in those spaces and the sacredness of such energy, I believe, represents the purest strength that exists in humanity.
